Spectacular caves. As others have said. The caves are tide dependant, so check before you go. They have their opening times based on the tides on a particular given day on their official website. A bit of a queue to pay the fees that will eat your time, as there is only a small window when we can visit, give yourself plenty of time to get there1km walk through the forest downhill with gentle gradient, then 500m or so through flat sandy beach to get to the caves. Very exposed and windy when we were there, so bring a jacket with you. The caves were huge and spectacular, natural wonder. You can enter through one and walk out of the other. I’d recommend it if you enjoy natureGiven that there was a charge to visit this place, better toilet facilities will highly be appreciated

Awesome. Bellbirds, Tui, wood pigeons, fan tails. All in abundance! First thing to notice at getting out of the car in the car park. The loudest native bird chorus I've ever heard in new Zealand! And that includes predator free Ulva Island near Stewart Island! Just amazing to hear. Must be some great work going on behind the scenes with predator control. Oh, and the waterfall was impressive too!

Beautiful waterfall. Walk to the waterfall is very narrow path, though well maintained. At some points it is slippery. The last 100-150 meters is not well marked, though you can make your way through large rocks. Highly recommend to have a company, don't go alone.

saw spoonbills. pretty average to be fair. worth a look if you have time. Nice that you get to look at the wetlands and a lot of work has been put into the boardwalk. Max 20 minutes. very small carpark off the road. We saw spoonbills which was quite cool.
